Grateful Wednesday

1. my little note on the end of my tea bag

2. Peace
: a state of tranquillity or quiet :
: freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions :
: harmony in personal :
peace may not be so much about not living without turmoil or pain but instead it is the reestablishment of relationships, relationships with God, with friends, with family, spouses and strangers. Finding that peace - or creating peace in your heart can begin and end with those reestablishment of relationships to bring calm to heart.

3. Yoga
as frustrating as it is in the beginning I think I have found a new love. hopefully enforcing my hopes to meditate and to find my peace. and i have found two loverly studios and couldn't be more pleased. my yoga practice has transformed, and though I'm not all "zen" all the time I do I feel that it is helping me find that place.

4. Hope
you know how sometimes you just are overcome with hope like this whole body rush of hope and belief and trust just overcomes you. I felt that this Sunday and I think I have been able to carry it all the way through Wednesday. Here's to hoping it continues...

5. People
they teach us crazy things, you learn from them in the most absurd ways, and you grow because of them. And it happens right before our eyes. Even if it can be painful and a little uncomfortable and just downright frustrating, sometimes all of a sudden you turn a corner. it's like you realize what you have learned from them and why they were put in our lives.

Alright, Happy Wednesday!! :)

finding my way and learning my heart...

so lately i've felt like I want to find my way, find my place in this world
who am i?
what matters in my heart?
what makes people geniunely happy? how does one stay happy?
what makes me want to jump out of bed? what makes me, me? where is my next step? where will i be in 1 year or 5 years? where do i WANT to be? and more so where will HE place me? What are the fundamentals to me? what are my dreams, goals and aspirations?

i think i want to take the next couple of weeks answering, praying, guessing, and searching my soul.
No, not answers, because most of these there aren't answers to...just ideas. i think that from this point i have followed the steps, the guidelines, the rules as to what's next and who am i supposed to be. However, i have gotten to that point where there aren't clear guidelines. I'm not jumping to the next rock before I have even landed on the current one. Instead, i am sitting on my *hypothetical rock*, and it's large and vast and i love a lot of it but i feel like i need to make it warm and fuzzy and my own. so here's to finding myself, and defining myself...

so i've read a few articles, blogs, and just stuff that have inspired me, that have made me want to search...
first step, i have defined some new new interests...new goals

. be a loving, spiritual and inspirational wife, daughter, cousin, friend and woman .
. be a mother .
. have a successful career where i can focus on serving .
. run another half marathon .
. do another sprint triathlon .
. be more open on my blog, i have received so much from reading various blogs, i too should give back .
. become a yogi, or attempt a yogi world .
. volunteer .
. find peace & restfulness .
. learn to be content wherever i may be in life .

I usually don't post these types but for some reason today i am feeling like taking that leap...setting it in stone i assume.

honestly

i have an endless amount of worry.
i stress too much.

but love a lot.

i am super picky and sometimes quite indecisive.
i love to run but i am the worst about going for a run.

i love my family.

i should answer my phone, but in all honesty i'm not a huge fan of the phone.
i have multiple personal posts that are in the draft phase, they will most likely never see the light of day.

i love this post.
and i absolutely love how things pop up just when you need them.

i stress about figuring out who i am and what i am supposed to do with this crazy, short life we live.

as much as i am not a fan of this depressing movie, i love the quote.

if we ever had to build new...

something like this would do...

i have an old soul for houses - i just love them. i always have said that couldn't imagine living in a new house. but just in the past few days it has been floating around in my mind. what if we did build new. there are plenty of options out there to make a new house "look" old, right? but then again it wouldn't be "old". the original creaky hardwoods, the character, the idea of it being on this earth way longer than i have been. the stories. the lives. i don't know. i think i just talked myself back into "no-way-my-old-house-isn't-going-anywhere". i always imagine the scene on Father of the Bride where the bulldozer is at the house about to tear it down. yeah, i think we can just add on instead.

in the meantime, look at THESE loves...mmm oh happy day...i die for 1920s cottage/new england/northeast style homes...D.I.E...

Grateful Wednesday

Lots and lots to be grateful for today! :)

one.

my husband
where do I begin...I am so beyond blessed and grateful for this man. If I only knew what marriage would be like. If I only knew what I was praying for when I prayed to find my husband and soulmate. God does provide. and man, does he provide SO well. He is more than I could've even hoped for, wished for or even imagined.
Grateful, in this case, is an understatement.

two.

running.
the weather was beautiful Monday night, so I went for a very short run, but it was wonderful.
maybe this will be in my future?!

three.

cool nights.
last night I enjoyed dinner on a patio...mmm I love the cool nights that fall brings, along with the crisp mornings!

four.

the pups.
they have been such great cuddle bugs!

(bear refuses to be photogenic)

five.

things working out the way they are supposed to.

and my quote for this week:

"Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing; God alone suffices"
- St. Teresa of Avila -

weekend recap

it was a nice, rainy, "attempting-to-be-fall" weekend.

i miss him.
he might kill me for this one but i had to.
i saw, apparently along with the rest of the fb world, the most beautiful rainbow in dfw last night. I don't think I have ever seen one quite that bright - and icing on the cake: I could see both sides.
and icing on top of the icing: this came after the rainbow - amazing and then it turned into a bright orange uhmazing!
some love left me these...
my weeknights are going to consist of these oldies but goodies, house hunter reruns and a few workouts...doesn't sound awful, right? yeah, I know I'd rather be in New Mexico too but we can't all be spoiled now can we ;)

Happy Monday!!

Master(bed)Room

Just a few possibilities for a master bedroom freshening up...

1. Love this pop of color to go with number 2
2. Fresh white and gray stripes
3. I have been lusting over white curtains for months...otherwise I might've added colored curtains
4. We already have one of these lamps, so I think my side of the bed deserves one TOO!
5. Such a cute addition :)
6. We can always use a few extra drawers - and I like the whole dressers on each side of the bed thing.
7. GASP - something we already have? - yup thats right we have the rug - just need to put it to use!

Grateful Wednesday

one.

nesting
this weekend I found myself wanting to nest. it's so fun to add new pictures or throw pillows and hopefully curtains (soon).

two.

brunch with my husband
and these two little guys that accompanied our brunch unexpectedly. They were so sweet - too bad our little munchkins don't know how to behave in public - but they sure are sweet.

three.

Fresh Flowers
This weekend we made some little arrangements for my mother-in-laws birthday dinner. oh how i love fresh flowers. central market is like heaven for me - in more ways than one - but most definitely in the floral section.

four.

pretty things in downtown
on one of my walking paths in downtown they have been doing construction and well its not really that pretty in the interim (beside the fact that it reminds me of downtown NYC which kinda makes me happy) BUT today on my walk I saw this:
BEAUTIFUL! Someone painted the plywood and made what was not so pretty - PRETTY!!

five.

this prayer
Everytime I read it I feel like it speaks to me in a different way than the time before. I also feel like I appreciate it more everytime I pray it.

Well, kids, Happy Wednesday!! :)
and hope you're feeling as grateful today as I am!!!

Grateful Wednesday

one.

possibilities
oh the possibilities in our futures are endless and there is something so refreshing and breathtaking about that...all the wonderful possibilities ahead of us...

two.

friends
I believe this was on my last weeks list but we had a party, cough (& confession) a themed party - yes, we might still act like we are in college but sometimes we also act like we are 80 so ha. Needless to say we had a wonderful time with friends Saturday evening. so there my number two is friends :)

three.

small steps
every step forward is positive. I must see the small steps instead of getting overwhelmed by the leap that I want to make. Small steps make us thankful, at least makes me more thankful.

four.

my favorite quote...this week
"be kind to yourself and realize that in tragedy you can find beauty"
I love that - be kind to yourself - I need to say that more frequently.

five.

sangria and summer
since it was practically the last weekend of the summer I got to enjoy some sangria
(ooo yummy yummy sangria from fireside pies - my favorite)

...Ooo how I wish I was sipping on this right about now...

Happy Wednesday!

Grateful Wednesday

Alright, I know I am super duper tardy on this one so I am just going to have to post as is. :) It has been a busy busy week - but on Wednesday I started my grateful list, I just didn't complete with all my unnecessary commentary. so here goes nothin...

one.

work
I know it's strange but just go with it - not everyday do you hear someone say they are grateful for their job! note this, flag it, write it down - something because I am sure when i'm complaining about it you can point this out and be like "ha" "grateful for your job" "ha" "ha" "ha"!

two.

friends
this weekend we are having a semi party (you know like the one I wanted to have at the beginning of the summer in this post and this one too?!) and I am excited just to hang out with our friends. every weekend has been filled with everyone else's friends (I know I sound like a selfish whiny 5 year old but oh well - I can complain every once in a while, right?) so I am excited to just have a good time with OUR friends.

three.

 happy days
ya know, those days that are just happy...yeah I am having one of those!
yay happy little elephant...slight recent obsession with elephants :)
image via pinterest

four.

our little old house I assume this goes with my lower grateful item - but I love our little house, especially with all of these blogs that show you a million and one ways to decorate, design and fix it up!

five.

when I read a blog and it hits home
people out there are going through the same stuff that we are going through and its comforting and beautiful to see how different people handle things. Honestly I feel like it makes me a bit more sane. My three favorite posts this week include the following:

1. All of Erin's, from Elements of Style, posts re her new house purchase. I love it - sometimes I feel like the same exact words have come out of my mouth (of course a lot less witty"er" than hers but you know what I'm sayin!)

2. on a light hearted note Cupcakes and Cashmere's post about her closet makes me want to clean mine SO bad and organize and make it my own and so on and so forth blah blah - but no seriously I've always wanted to personalize my closet - and like wallpaper the inside - HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE? (so COOL I know!). I secretly love wallpaper but know that's the only place that it will be allowed to go. :)

3. finally a cup of jo's posts - so many of them hit home. Here are a few that I find so honest, inspiringinteresting and fun (my favorites are the comments on this post).

Alright, well, Happy Friday! Have a fabulous LONG weekend!

some randoms...

...on my wish list...

How about DESIGN LOVE FEST blog post about typography? There is something to be said for amazing handwriting, beautiful prints, and calligraphy...I'm just sayin...so beautiful...
maybe one day I too shall take a class - it seems so useful!
(I am pretty sure I have posted this before...but I just love calligraphy)

and what about these prints from Crate & Barrel?
my husband and I attempt to go on a minivacay for our anniversary, I like to think it's kinda "our" thing. How cool would it be to have a print from our different trips?
we would need this one of course...
and then this for last year...
and *hopefully* this one this year ;)

I am also obsessed with Sheridan French's new collection (sneak peek!) -
everything is absolutely to. DIE. for.
Here are a few of my favorites.

(love love love these..that skirt is bbeeaautiful and the hot pink up against the leopard - holy smokes!)
(and I will take very single one of these outfits please and thank you!)

in the meantime I am attempting to budget, price and plan for a trip to san fran/napa in november and I ran across this handy little site:
and
Daily Candy also has a little vacay guide for Napa! :)
(cough cough dear husband of mine...)

Alright, well happy tuesday!
and happy feast of St. Augustine!

“Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.”
- St. Augustine of Hippo -
